The Elemental Writing Mysteries: Official Syllabus
A four-month expedition through the energetics of writing
This August marks the beginning of something I’ve been quietly developing behind the scenes: a complete curriculum in what I call the Energetics of Writing.
In working with clients, I’ve spent countless hours diagnosing why some manuscripts feel flat and others don’t. Why readers abandon well-crafted novels, why powerful personal essays fail to land or why business content with good structure still doesn’t compel the reader to take action.
The answer isn’t more craft rules or changing your writing voice. It’s learning and understanding the energetics of your work. All writing has the four elemental energies — the same elements we find in nature — flowing through it, whether you’re writing fiction or nonfiction.
Welcome to The Elemental Writing Mysteries.
What You’ll Learn This Semester
Over four months, we’ll journey through each of the elements that make writing compelling:
Month One: Air Element - Vision & Purpose
August 2025
Air is your work’s true north. It governs vision, thematic clarity and the deeper purpose that gives your writing meaning. Without strong Air, even beautifully crafted pieces feel aimless — be it a novel without direction or a personal essay that meanders without a point.
In tarot, Air corresponds to the suit of Swords — representing mental clarity, sharp perspective and the ability to cut through confusion to reach truth.
You’ll discover:
Why conceptual clarity determines everything else
How to identify your work’s unique perspective
The difference between themes that emerge naturally vs. ones that feel forced
Signs your Air element is strong or needs development
The foundation assessment that guides all other elements
Month Two: Fire Element - Movement & Transformation
September 2025
Fire is what brings your writing to life. It’s the element of momentum, change and the energy that compels readers to keep reading. Fire transforms both your subject matter and your audience.
In tarot, Fire corresponds to the suit of Wands — representing passion, inspiration and the creative force that drives transformation.
You’ll explore:
Why pacing problems are actually Fire imbalances
How to create sustainable momentum in any form of writing
The transformation patterns that drive compelling narratives and arguments
Building tension that serves your work’s deeper purpose
When to intensify Fire energy and when to let it breathe
Month Three: Water Element - Emotion & Connection
October 2025
Water flows through every authentic connection and genuine emotion in your work. It’s what makes readers care about your characters, connect with your personal experiences or feel moved by your ideas. Without Water, even action-packed novels and passionate essays feel hollow.
In tarot, Water corresponds to the suit of Cups — representing feelings, emotions and the intuitive flow that creates authentic connection.
We’ll dive into:
The difference between emotion and emotional manipulation
Creating authentic connections with your audience
How relationships and personal stakes drive all writing forward
The flow between sections and emotional beats
Why vulnerability is your writing superpower
Month Four: Earth Element - Structure & Craft
November 2025
Earth provides the foundation that holds everything together. It’s not just grammar and sentence structure, although those are important to prevent what I call “speed bumps.” Earth is the writing craft mastery that makes your vision accessible and your work’s magic visible to readers.
In tarot, Earth corresponds to the suit of Pentacles — representing manifestation, practical skills and the grounded results that bring ideas into reality.
You’ll master:
Structure that serves your message (not the other way around)
The craft elements that support each of the other elements
When to trust your instincts vs. when to apply industry knowledge
Building sections that feel both grounded and alive
The integration of all four elements into harmonious writing

Nature’s Blueprint for Compelling Writing
Air, Fire, Water and Earth aren’t random categories I created. Nor did my tarot practice provide the inspiration for them (that was purely Spirit working and showing how all things are connected). They’re the same four elemental forces that shape our natural world. As a practitioner, I work with these elements in my daily life. It was only when I began truly studying my own writing and processes that I realized the same way they work in harmony to sustain life, they also flow together to create writing that lives and breathes.
When you understand how these universal forces operate, you can work with them consciously rather than against them accidentally.
After reflecting on the manuscripts I’ve read from different clients writing in different genres, I’ve discovered that each piece that destroyed me — the ones that stayed with me long after reading — balanced these four energies. When they work in harmony, writing transforms from good to writing that sticks with you.
Balance doesn’t mean equal parts. A thriller might be Fire-heavy with strong Earth support. A memoir might flow with Water while being grounded in Earth structure. What’s important is conscious harmony, not mathematical equality.
Traditional writing advice focuses on individual craft elements without addressing how they interact energetically. This curriculum fills that gap.
You’ll learn to diagnose elemental imbalances in your work and more importantly, how to create the harmony that makes your writing truly compelling.
The Expedition Begins
I don’t believe in following rigid rules or forcing your creativity into predetermined molds. I’m an advocate of understanding the natural forces that make writing powerful and learning to work with them consciously.
By the end of November, you’ll have:
A complete framework for evaluating any piece of writing
Tools to diagnose and fix the most common problems across all forms
Understanding of how craft serves vision (not the other way around)
A systematic approach to creating work that transforms readers
Your own elemental writing practice
For Whom This Expedition Is Intended
This curriculum is designed for writers who:
Sense there’s something deeper than technical writing craft
Want systematic approaches rather than vague inspiration and quick fixes
Are ready to do the inner work that creates outer transformation
Understand that powerful writing serves something larger than information transfer
Seek to honor both excellent writing craft and sacred creative practice
Work in any form — novels, creative nonfiction, essays, articles, business content, spiritual guidebooks
The Sacred Nature of This Work
In mystery schools, knowledge is transmitted gradually, allowing each layer to integrate before the next is revealed. This four-month expedition upholds that wisdom.
Each element builds upon the previous, creating understanding that goes beyond intellectual knowledge into embodied creative practice.
This is not fast-food content designed for quick consumption. It’s nourishment meant to sustain your creative work for years to come.
Begin Your Expedition
The Elemental Writing Mysteries begins this August.
If you’re ready to discover why your writing might still be missing its spark — and what to do about it — then you’re ready for The Elemental Writing Mysteries.
For Temple Visitors: Follow along with the free monthly guides and begin assessing your work through an elemental lens.
For Temple Scholars: Join the paid community for implementation support, advanced techniques and ongoing guidance from me as you integrate these mysteries into your creative practice.

A Note on Rest and Integration
After this four-month intensive, I’ll be taking December to rest and plan for 2026. This honors the natural cycles of creation and allows time for integration.
I encourage you to do the same. To support this, I’ll be unlocking my Winter Reflection Guide for Writers for a limited time. I’ll send out a notice in November when the guide becomes available.
The mysteries will be here when you’re ready. But transformation happens in community, and this particular expedition begins only once.
Will you join us?
The Elemental Writing Mysteries begin August 2025. Whether you’re writing fiction, creative nonfiction, essays, business content or any form of creative expression, these mysteries will change how you approach your craft.
